Bennet Ratcliff, Partner, Vander Ark/Ratcliff
Social networking, webinars, online videos, blogging, virtual events, website optimization—the world of marketing is exploding with powerful interactive vehicles for your brand’s stories, sales, and promotions. With trade show attendance and field sales struggling under strained school and vendor budgets, virtual interaction with prospects, customers, and staff offers powerful economic incentives to shift the paradigm toward more digital relationships. How are you determining which, if any, of these will be effective for your company and how to marry them into the traditional mix? Let these experienced interactive marketers show you the pros and cons of the evolving Web 2.0 business models so you can map out a winning strategy.
Tactical Topic #2:
Professional Development – Does One Size Fit All?
Sharnell S. Jackson, Ed.M., President, Data-Driven Innovations Consulting, Inc. (Moderator)
Mark Atkinson, CEO, Teachscape
Kathy Hurley, Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, Pearson School & Pearson Foundation
Some companies see professional development as a key profit center independent of other product sales. Others offer PD as a marketing expense providing requisite support to enable product sales. Schools spend billions on PD, but much of it goes for staff salaries and often for “homemade” programs authored and presented by district staff. In any case, staff development should connect with what teachers do in the classroom and be interesting, timely, and affordable. What kind of a market is this? Hear about contrasting business models from knowledgeable business and education executives. Learn about best practices impacting successful implementation and how companies respond to increasing school demands for customization. Better your judgment regarding models and strategies to best fit your own company’s needs. |

Scott Reeves, Consultant, Metzner-Schneider Associates and President, Chicago Association of Direct Marketing
Take a fresh look at database marketing as a proven way to focus on the highest-potential prospects by ranking their propensity to buy; figure out marketing messaging based on demographics rather than a “one size fits all” approach; and use outbound direct marketing, print, and email more effectively to grow your business. Focusing your sales force on calls with the highest potential to buy can increase your sales while maintaining the same level of costs or, conversely, reduce your costs while maintaining the same level of sales. Join this expert panel to better understand how more integrated and efficient marketing analytics can drive results in the face of growing costs. Take away a new framework for thinking about direct marketing based on evolving strategies and tactics to bolster your sales results.
